January 2020 One Monthly Goal Finished!

I finished my January One Monthly goal, and even finished my stretch goal!  I was able to sew all of the lines, chenille it, and completed the binding on this cute baby quilt for a co-worker's new baby late last night.

I think it turned out well.  Tomorrow it will be washed and gifted next week.  Just a month late!  Now it is time to think of my February 2020 One Monthly Goal.

15 Minutes of Stitching - Week 3 of 2020

Let us see how the second week of January went.
Days spent stitching in the week: 7 out of 7
Days spend stitching in January: 19 out of 19
Days spent stitching in 2020: 19 out of 19
Success Rate: 100%
My week runs Monday through Sunday.

Finding time has been easy each night this last week, especially since I have not been reading before bed, instead I have been stitching.  It helps that I have made a self imposed deadline too.  By spending 15 - 20 minutes a day, I can see progress being made.  I wish I could carve out a little more time for stitching on the weekends, but right now I will take what I can get.

The fabric order I place at the end of the year finally made it's arrival to my house.  As a result I have an increase on the in fabric this week, however I think this will be the last of things for a while.  My goal is to be on the negative side by the end of the year.  It is still early that I believe I can make a come back.  We will see how well I do after baby arrives.  Next week, I will have some fabric out as my goal is to finish sewing the lines on the quilt I am working on, and maybe even get the binding sewn down.  That will be a little chunk out, but it will make a difference.

Fabric out this week: 0.00 yards
Fabric out, in 2020: 0.78 yards
Fabric in this week: 18.97 yards
Fabric in, in 2020: 33.63 yards
Fabric difference in 2020: gain of 32.85 yards

I hope everyone had a great week!

Design Wall Wednesday

This last week has been productive!  I was able to complete my goal and stretch goal for the chenille quilt I am working on.  I am over 3/4ths of the way done sewing lines on the panel, and I even got over half of them cut.  In addition to that, my husband and I have been working on sealing up all of the holes that lead to the crawl space under our house as we have had a visitor.  Hopefully next week we will catch it.  It has been plaguing us since Christmas time.

My first goal for the new week is to continue to finish sewing the lines on the chenille quilt, plus create the binding, trim up the quilt top, and start to sew down the binding.  My stretch goal is to finish sewing down the binding, where I have a finished product by the end of the weekend.

My second goal is to finish putting away Christmas stuff, wash dishes, including Christmas cookie containers, and start to prep our closet for its makeover next week.  My stretch goal is to start working on cleaning up the kitchen.

I hope everyone has a great week!

15 Minutes of Stitching - Week 2 of 2020

Let us see how the second week of January went.
Days spent stitching in the week: 7 out of 7
Days spend stitching in January: 12 out of 12
Days spent stitching in 2020: 12 out of 12
Success Rate: 100%
My week runs Monday through Sunday.

Finding time was very easy this week, which was a nice change of pace.  I am on a deadline for the quilt I am working on, as the baby has already arrived.  I would love to gift it by the end of the month.  If I put my mind to it, I will get it done, and if I clear my schedule to work on it a solid two hours one day.  I know all weeks will not be like this, but that is part of life.

My LQS put all clearance fabric at 70% off, so some came home with me.  I saved more than I spent, and I left plenty for other people. I got some great neutrals, and some background Christmas fabric for a QAL I hope to participate or for the quilt I plan to make in Christmas fabrics!  Perfect time to pick up some great ones.  Nothing out as I started sewing lines, but once I finish the sewing portion, a lot will be out of my stash, which will be amazing.  Also, if I can finish two bindings that I need to finish I can count those as out, and that will be a ton!  Fingers crossed I can recover and have a loss by the end of the year.

Fabric out this week: 0.00 yards
Fabric out, in 2020: 0.78 yards
Fabric in this week: 14.66 yards
Fabric in, in 2020: 14.66 yards
Fabric difference in 2020: gain of 13.88 yards

I hope everyone had a great week!

Design Wall Tuesday/Wednesday

This last week was spent fighting a cold, and when you can not take much meds, it is sooo much easier to sit on the couch and rest.  Plus our rodent friend came back, so now we are sleeping on the guest bed, and it is not very comfortable!  But, between all of that, I was able to square up the panels, layer them together, pin them to the backing, and start sewing lines!  This is what it looked like at the beginning of the week.

My first goal is to continue to sew the lines on the chenille quilt.  I would like to get halfway done with sewing lines.  My stretch goal is to have 3/4ths of the lines finished, and start cutting the channels that are done.

My second goal is to clean up the kitchen, catching up on dishes, and clean off the counters, plus rodent proof the house.  My stretch goal is to organize and put away all of the Christmas stuff.

I hope everyone has a great week!

15 Minutes of Stitching - Week 1 of 2020

To finish off the year, below are my numbers.  Check out my Design Wall Tuesday/Wednesday post to find out how my New Years has gone already.  It has been a little busy to say the least.

Days spent stitching in the week: 9 out of 9
Days spent stitching in December: 31 out of 31
Days spent stitching in 2019: 350 out of 365
Success Rate: 95.9%
My week runs from Monday to Sunday.

I was able to finish off the year strong, and found 15 minutes a day for the month of December!  I only missed 15 days for the whole year, which is amazing to me!

My Mom and I attended a store closing sale, and I walked away with a few yards.  The price was a little too good to pass up.  I also found the perfect print for the back of my husband's quilt, and he was amazed that I had found the fabric I did.  I did not finish any blocks to count fabric out for the week.

Fabric out this week: 0.00 yards
Fabric out, in 2019: 49.78 yards
Fabric in this week: 25.86 yards
Fabric in, in 2019: 496.13 yards
Fabric difference in 2019: 446.35 gain of yards

For Week 1 of 2020:
Days spent stitching in the week: 5 out of 5
Days spend stitching in January: 5 out of 5
Days spent stitching in 2020: 5 out of 5
Success Rate: 100%
My week runs Monday through Sunday.

My week went very well considering the time, and the circumstances I had.  I was able to find a little time each day to move a project just a little closer to the finish line, even far away from home.  I do not know how long this fantastic success rate will be, but that is okay.  I have big life changes happening this year, and know that I will not have as much time for me as I do now.

I have started the year off with receiving no fabric so far.  I have two outstanding orders from last year, but I will be receiving the fabric this year, plus one or two purchases to make still.  I'm happy that I have started the year off strong by using fabric, and not gaining it just yet.

Fabric out this week: 0.78 yards
Fabric out, in 2019: 0.78 yards
Fabric in this week: 0.00 yards
Fabric in, in 2019: 0.00 yards
Fabric difference in 2019: loss of .78 yards

I hope everyone had a great week!

Design Wall Tuesday/Wednesday

Since the first of the year, life has been a whirlwind.  Last Sunday we learned that my Grandfather was being put on hospice, and dying.  Monday he requested to have the whole family see him before he passed.  About 8 hours before I was to board my flight he passed away, on January 1, 2020.  On January 2, we learned we had to have the funeral that weekend as the pastor would start a 3 month sabbatical the following weekend.  My husband and I had to fly out on Friday, January 3 for the wake, funeral service, and internment; Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  We flew home yesterday.  It has all happened so quickly, I have not really had time to process everything.  But, to help bring me to my happy place, I was lucky to find time to work on my Niece's quilt each day while I was away.  I know before everything happened I was working on the binding for my Mom's quilt.  I have about one more day's worth of work on it, and then it will be done.

It is a New Year, and I have a few goals.  My January One Monthly Goal has been set, and that is what I plan to work on for the rest of the week.  My goal is to start on it, by laying out the panels, pinning them, and start sewing the lines, as I'm creating a chanielled blanket for a co-worker's new baby.  My stretch goal is to be half way done sewing the lines.

The panel is so cute.

My second goal is to organize and put all of Christmas away.  We were in the middle of it when everything happened, so I need to finish it, and do some general housework that was waylaid while the Holidays were here.

I hope everyone has a great week!

January 2020 One Monthly Goal

Welcome to 2020!  I hope to not be posting my One Monthly Goals this late every month this year, but some things impended me this month and this is the first time I have been truly on my computer.

My one monthly goal is to take this panel and chenille it.  I have all 3 of the same panels, and the minky backing that I plan to use.  This is for a co-worker's child who was born at the very end of December.  My goal is to sew the straight lines, then cut two of the three layers, and then start on the binding.

My stretch goal for the month is to finish the binding and have it delivered.

Let us all start the year off strong with meeting our one monthly goal for January.
