Design Wall Tuesday

This week was no exception to making progress!  I was able to finish sewing together rows 3-5, and then started to sew the rows into groups of four.  I was able to sew rows 5-8 together.  It is awesome to be making progress.  I also found some time to start taking apart the row that I need to replace a block in.  Of course it is in the middle of the quilt, so taking it apart has been interesting.  Below is an updated picture of where I am at sewing this quilt back together.

My goals for the next week are about the same as the last few weeks.  My first goal is to work on the back of the quilt.  I am almost done with it!  I see the end.  I would like to sew the last two rows together, and get the whole back sewn together, plus stay stitch all of the sides.  Then I need to get zippers on it, and I will quilt it this Friday, as I have already rented time on the longarm at my LQS.  My stretch goal is to get the binding made and stitch it onto one side of the quilt.  I would love to start sewing it down on the back too.

My second goal, which will continue to be a goal until it is completely done, is to work on unpacking our house.  Our goal for the week is to finish cleaning the kitchen, and work on the box that is driving my husband insane, which is in front of his bookcase.  My stretch goal is to work on the garage, and donate the things that did not sell at our yard sale two and a half weeks ago to Goodwill.

I hope everyone has a great week!

15 Minutes of Stitching - Week 45 2019

Let us see how the last week went on the stitching front.

Days spent stitching in the week: 6 out of 7
Days spent stitching in November: 9 out of 10
Days spent stitching in 2019: 301 out of 314
Success Rate: 95.9%
My week runs from Monday to Sunday.

I missed a day this past week because it was a busy day, and then I passed out on the couch after dinner.  Opps, sometimes there will be days like that, but that is okay.  Some nights get 15 minutes, others get 30 minutes or more.  It just depends upon what is happening.  I'm still well above my goal of 90% success rate for the year, so I am happy.  I have loved seeing the progress made.

I bought a few 1/2 yard cuts in preparation for Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt Frolic.  I still need to order the fat quarter bundles I have my eye on, so that will increase my amount in, but I will continue to make slow progress in using fabric.  Next year the goal is to have a loss of fabric.  Can I do it?  It will also help when I have everything unpacked and organized so I can pick and audition instead of trying to find stuff from boxes.

Fabric out this week: .17 yards
Fabric out, in 2019: 45.40 yards
Fabric in this week: 7.5 yards
Fabric in, in 2019: 430.19 yards
Fabric difference in 2019: 384.79 gain of  yards

I hope everyone had a great week!

Design Wall Tuesday

Each week a little bit of progress has been made, and this past week was no exception.  I was able to rows 8-9 sewn together, plus laid out the last 7 rows for the quilt backing I have been slowly working on.  I wasn't able to finish my stretch goal, but that is okay, it is already being worked on for the week.  Below are the last 8 rows laid out, and row 5 is missing as it is on the machine being sewn together already!

My goals for the next week are about the same as the last few weeks.  My first goal is to work on the back of the quilt.  I would like to finish rows 3-7 and sew together rows 5-8 and rows 3-4.  My stretch goal is to finish rows 1-2 and sew rows 1-4 together, plus fix my boo-boo block.

My second goal, which will continue to be a goal until it is completely done, is to work on unpacking our house.  Our goal for the week is to finish cleaning the kitchen, and work on the box that is driving my husband insane, which is in front of his bookcase.  My stretch goal is to work on the garage, and donate the things that did not sell at our yard sale a week and a half ago to Goodwill.

I am getting more energy, now that I am out of the 1st trimester, so I have to use it to keep moving forward on all of the projects I have going on.  I hope everyone has a great week!

15 Minutes of Stitching - Week 44 2019

Let us see how the last week went on the stitching front.

Days spent stitching in the week: 7 out of 7
Days spent stitching in October: 31out of 31
Days spent stitching in November: 3 out of 3
Days spent stitching in 2019: 295 out of 307
Success Rate: 96.1%
My week runs from Monday to Sunday.

My week was easy to find stitching time.  No random parties or late nights took place.  I feel very accomplished for making it with this high of a success rate by this point this year.  It helps that I have a designated space to lay things out and have to create, plus a supportive husband who encourages me to go and do my 15 minutes of stitching.  Next year will be different, and I'm starting to think ahead on how I would like to set my goals.  Especially since end of April/beginning of May our lives will change drastically when we welcome our child into the world.  I'm tossing the idea around, in my head, of having 15 minutes of stitching include cross stitching or knitting if I do not have the energy to get up out of bed.  I feel like those things could help me relax after a long day, finish my 15 minutes, and go directly to bed.  Thoughts are still going back and forth in my mind, and we will see what I decide to do.  What are your thoughts?

This week, no fabric came in or went out.  That is okay, as the 1-2 weeks very little will go out as I work on the back of a quilt that is pieced.  I still have some serious work to do to try and decrease my fabric gain to 325-350 yards for the year, but I believe I will get there.

Fabric out this week: 0 yards
Fabric out, in 2019: 45.23 yards
Fabric in this week: 0 yards
Fabric in, in 2019: 422.69 yards
Fabric difference in 2019: gain of 377.46 yards

I hope everyone had a great week!

Design Wall Monday

Mondays can be hard, especially after a time change.  I made it to Design Wall Monday though!  This past week, I felt like I was productive.  With a little work each night, I was able to get my October One Monthly Goal accomplished, right before the deadline, and put together a few more rows of the top part.

My Mom started to review my written work, and found an error in spelling, which I need to now work on take out.  In addition to that, we had a decent yard sale, selling about a third of what we wanted to, and prepped the rest for Goodwill.  The house continues to slowly take shape.

My goals for the next week are about the same as the last few weeks.  My first goal is to work on the back of the quilt.  I would like to finish rows 8-9, and sew 9-12 together, plus layout rows 1-7.  My stretch goal is to get rows 5-7 sewn together, and get rows 5-8 sewn into a section.

My second goal, which will continue to be a goal until it is completely done, is to work on unpacking our house.  Our goal for the week is to finish cleaning the kitchen, and work on the box that is driving my husband insane, which is in front of his bookcase.  My stretch goal is to work on the garage, and get the home warranty people out to fix/replace the microwave.

I hope everyone has a great week!
